| On April 7, 2007 The MultiMedia Arts Center presents an Opening Reception Gala to kick off the premier of Second Lifes most comprehensive center for the arts in the worlds largest virtual reality environment. The black tie gala starts at 5:00 PM (SLT) and features a concert by Louis Landon at 6:00 PM (SLT) on the World Stage. The eclectic pianist has performed with everyone from John Hall to Mikhail Baryshnikov and has opened for Little Feat. For European audiences theres an earlier performance kicking off at the Cabaret Carlotta with acoustic duo Bill and Pam Havercamp. As former General Manager of the legendary performance space - The KNITTING FACTORY in NYC Dash has extensive experience operating a indie-plex showcasing breakout bands across four stages integrating multimedia reach through internet, satellite, TV and other forms. His creation of The MMAC mirrors a similar project hes pursing in RL to establish a four venue arts center. Dash says, Second Life is the Web of the future...I see The MMAC as giving artists of all genres global exposure via this amazing social network... | About The MMAC: The Centerpiece of The MMAC is the World Stage - a theater venue that can be configured with either a thrust, proscenium or in the round design, in a comfortably raked auditorium. Configured over 4 sims, the space can accommodate up to 160 in world patrons and audio streams to up to 400+. Not a bad seat in the house! Programming features concerts, music, theater, dance, comedy, kids shows, multi-media, special films and more. For a more intimate performance space theres the MMAC Cabaret Carlotta, which accommodates solo performers, smaller groups and spoken word. The Comedy Link Club is the Second Life extension of The Record Link Network's www.TheComedyLink.com. In addition to live-streamed performances by comedians, improv groups & audio theater, comedy video clips are available on demand. THE UNDERGROUND is a subterranean dance club, with a fun funky exposed earth environment featuring over 40 different dance animation balls, constant visuals & more. | The MMAC Lobby Listening Room Gallery (LLG) serves as a public common space and gallery to showcase visuals arts and as a comfortable listening room featuring curated audio. In addition to before & after show hangs, the glass enclosed LLG will house gallery opening receptions, trade shows, and other special events. The MMAC OPEN AIR THEATER is an outdoor venue. Primarily designed for live theater, the amphitheater also houses music, films, spoken word and other stage events.
